WOOD CARVING 106 (C) CARBON STEEL

Started carving my first spoon last weekend and this knife glided through the basswood like butter, even for a total newbie like me. The edge came back with just a few strokes on a sharpening stone, so I didn’t have to worry about ruining the blade while learning.

The carbon steel edge holds up nicely even after a few hours of whittling, and it’s genuinely simple to bring back to sharp with just a quick pass on a stone. For the price, it’s a solid starter that won’t frustrate you out of the hobby.

I’ve never carved before, but this knife made my first project feel totally doable—it’s light in the hand and the edge came up nicely with just a few passes on a stone. The fact that it’s easy to sharpen means I’m already looking forward to my next piece instead of worrying about dulling it.
